Jan Antonishev
Jan Antonishev was born in Leningrad in 1965 and graduated from art school and Serov college (nowadays called Rerih). In 1981 he and artist, Dmitry Egorovsky, established one of most famous art groups in St.Petersburg — “Old City ”. In 1985 he became a member of the Commonwealth of artists, participating in all city exhibitions as well as exhibitions of the group “Old City”.
In 1992 Antonishev represented Russian art at the Modern Art Festival in Germany and at the Festival of Russian Cinema in France (2003). In 1997 he became a laureate of the President’s scholarship for young artists of Russia.
Antonishev’s work can be found in the Central Exhibition hall Manege, the Commonwealth of artists, the Union of Architects, the Urban Statutory Art Museum, the “Terem quartette” collection, in the collection of Andrew Tarkovsky in Italy, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Russia, and various private and corporate collections.
